John has extensive experience in construction contracting and in the representation of owners, contractors, engineers and architects. John also has extensive experience in government contracting, business finance, secured transactions, bankruptcy, insurance claims, tort claims and international business transactions. While in college studying for a bachelors of science in civil engineering John worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the Pittsburgh District. During the first five years after graduation from college John was a Construction Engineer and Estimator for the American Bridge Division of the U.S. Steel Corporation. While working as an engineer, John attended law school at night, and upon graduation joined a law firm located in Washington, D.C., and for eight year was involved on all aspects of commercial construction and government contracting, as well as representing parties in commercial and insurance transactions and disputes. John then became in-house counsel for a finance company in Alexandria, VA, for five years, working on collection matters, creditor’s rights, bankruptcy, lender liability, and general day-to-day business and employment issues. While working for the finance company, John attended the Georgetown University Law Center at night and received a masters of law in international and comparative law (with distinction). After finishing the masters of law program, John opened his own firm in Seattle, WA, concentrating on tort and insurance claims as well as international business transactions. John joined Harvey Pennington in early 2005. Education: University of Pittsburgh, B.S. Civil Engineering (1981); Duquesne University, J.D.
